You Didn’t Lose Your Spark — You Just Got Overloaded

Why burnout, overthinking, and emotional overload make life feel numb.

overthinking girl

Awakening with a heavy heart and foggy head.

One hundred things swirling around in your mind – particularly about your mistakes.

One hundred things that need to be done but you find yourself scrolling forever on your phone anyway. This followed by the guilt. The shame. That you have once again wasted an entire day.

Living the exact same mundane life each and every day without any motivation or hope.

Is this something that is relatable?

Because if so, perhaps you haven’t lost your spark at all.

Perhaps you simply became too overwhelmed.

1. Focus on the Action, Not the Outcome

We waste far too much time on the outcomes we seek.

Will I get the position?
Will I achieve success?
Will they recognize me?
Will everything turn out fine?

Goal setting is crucial. Dreaming is crucial. But becoming obsessed with the end result will gradually drain all the pleasure from the process.

The magic begins when you rediscover the thrill of the task at hand.

Rather than fretting over getting that ideal job, try to make the process worthwhile by learning something and growing yourself.

After all, true happiness is seldom found in the destination.
True happiness is often found in the journey that leads you there.

2. Remember: You Are the One in Control

Accepting that you control your actions will transform your life.

That doesn't imply that you become capable of accomplishing all those miracles in just one day. That only implies that you are able to make another decision.

Perhaps, you overslept today. Perhaps, your day started badly from the first minute.
Maybe you're having a bad day overall.

However, this does not mean that you should give up your entire day.

It's never too late to choose between reading your book and checking social media posts.
It's never too late to choose to spend an hour studying.

One thing gone wrong does not control your whole life.
You do.

3. Stop Hating the Narrator Inside Your Head

Rough times happen. Mistakes happen. Failures happen.

However, being hard on oneself due to all of this is unnecessary.

One should learn from their mistakes, yet not ruin themselves in the process, as each mistake always brings a lesson. Each tough time brings some kind of wisdom.

Moreover, if one is currently hard on themselves, here’s what needs to be remembered: it will pass.

Sometimes, the journey to healing doesn’t start with a big bang.
Sometimes, it starts with small acts of kindness towards oneself.

Perhaps after having read this, pouring oneself a cup of one’s favorite beverage might be a start to the path towards self-love.

Not for anyone else.
Just for oneself.

4. Life Doesn’t Have to Be Exciting All the Time

It is quite common for people to exclaim, “Life is like a movie.”

However, consider how much happens within the span of two minutes within any film:

Entire weeks, months, or even years could go by within the span of two minutes because there are always montages set to music.

Not everything is always dramatic and exciting.

Why, then, should our lives be thrilling on an everyday basis?

Life can sometimes be slow-paced, repetitive, and even about survival, growth, and preparation for future events.

That is not a problem, though.

Perhaps you are simply going through a two-minute montage period in your life until something better comes around.

5. The Truth About Happiness

Think about your favorite meal.

Then think about consuming it every single day until you die.

At first, it seems wonderful. But eventually, you will lose all enthusiasm. All joy.

Then think about enjoying it just once a week.

You would value it more. You would anticipate it. It would stay special for you.

The same applies to happiness.

Happiness doesn’t mean being in an ideal state all the time. Humans are not meant to be happy forever.

Happiness can actually happen when you wait and work hard and strive and achieve something.

This is because happiness isn’t really in the end product.
It lies in the process itself.

You haven’t lost your light.
You’ve simply been feeling overwhelmed, overworked, and overburdened.

And today doesn’t necessarily have to be the day you make a complete change in your life.

Today just might need to be the day that you show yourself some kindness.
